Maple Story Chewing Gum and First-Time-Shopper Promotion for Europe

Welcome! Are you chewing Maple Story Gum?! Well, I was really surprised when I noticed official Maple Story gum in store near my home ;-) anyway this gum is produced by candy making company – Lotte and can be bought in convenience stores across Japan. As usual to take some money from our wallet they printed some special serial numbers that can be used to obtain rare items in Maple Story! Well, chewing gum is really delicious and I can buy it only for this yummy taste! Only one thing disturbs me – flavor disappears after 30 seconds or so :/ and in my opinion it really sucks…

If you are familiar with World of Warcraft, you can remember special Mountain Dew soft drink related to this popular MMORPG. Official name was “Mountain Dew Game Fuel for World of Warcraft”. There were 2 flavors, the cherry-citrus tang of Horde Red, or the smooth wild fruit taste of Alliance Blue. These soft drinks were available only for players in US.
I don’t remember other products related to other MMORPGs, but for World of Warcraft they probably released soup, special oven or some depression pills ;-) well, after I “broke up” with WoW I sure needed one…

Oh, one more thing – from September 30 – October 7, 2009, all first time shoppers at Maple Story Europe will receive special 50% of the amount that they spent during the entire event period back in Maple Points! So if you are hungry for more in-game shop items, now is your chance to get them for less!

Maple Story Commercial

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today I would like to introduce, latest, fresh, fantastic, amazing, superb astonishing, most anticipated, better then others, cool, extraordinary, magnificent, marvelous heh….brilliant, phenomenal, rattling, terrific, tremendous, wonderful + one and only!!!!

> Maple Story official commercial! Check it out!

(Maple Story Commercial)

Well, in my opinion it’s one of the best commercials related to games I ever seen. Hmm I saw also other cool commercial lately, but is for other MMORPG – World of Warcraft: Mountain Dew Soft Drink, where chicks are fighting in the store – it’s awesome too, just like series of other World of Warcraft commercial with MR. T, William Shatner or Jean Claude Van Damme (Mr. T with his legendary quote “Shut up fool” is really priceless).

What do you think about this commercial is it good? Im interested with your opinion!

Brunette chick is really hot :-) damn I must meet her!!

Violent Son and Maple Story

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today I would like to introduce scary story related to another crazy gamer. Well, this time we go to Japan where an addicted Maple Story player goes off on parents after his parents try to disable his account. According to Daily Mainichi, a third-year junior high school student, became obsessed with the Maple Story last fall. He was good student, but soon after that, he stopped going to school. Panicked parents, asked the game’s publisher Nexon to disable their son’s Maple Story account and then their beloved son turned violent, prompting them to call the police. “The boy, frantic, leaned out a second-story window and screamed that he would die if he couldn’t play the game. Worn down, his parents pleaded with Nexon to reinstate the account.”

Well now, boy sits in front of the PC around 15 hours a day. His parents describe him that “he has a stern gaze and looks like a different person,” and “He’s brusque with us, but sometimes, when he’s facing the computer screen, he’ll suddenly let out a chuckle…” Well, this is creepy, but I don’t think that Maple Story IS in fact problem in this story. Boy has probably mental problems and Maple Story isn’t responsibility for these kind of behaviors. In my opinion it can be major depressive disorder, according to wikipedia “is a mental disorder characterized by an all-encompassing low mood accompanied by low self-esteem, and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities.” Anyway I hope everything gonna be alright, there is nothing more important then our health…

2x EXP Summer Event

Welcome on Maple Mesos. According to official website, Nexon is plaining to help us during our long and exhausting EXP farming. On official website we can find “Summer is here. It’s time for a break–from school, job, and even from the MapleStory grind!” They are sooo nice, well there will be 3 “breaks” (well they call them that way) every Friday which will be evenly broken up into sessions of 2x exp.

“This is the breakdown for your mini breaks: 6/26/2009, 7.03.2009, 7.10.2009, 7/17/2009, 7/24/2009 all at 9 am to 11 am, 2 pm to 4 pm, 7 pm to 9 pm!”

Well, they also write usual “bla, bla”

“For your leisurely pleasure we will have FIVE Fridays during which 2x EXP will allow you to level up in half the time you normally would.”

It’s always something, but I don’t understand why they just set 2x EXP ALL Friday? We are players and we are not handicapped!

“So, on Fridays from June 26th to July 24th, we’ll have SIX hours of 2x EXP fun!”

Well, I will probably log in, because I know that I have a lot of free time. Anyway I need to farm some EXP for my new Pirate character, he is “only” on 71 level so I’m prepared for long and hard leveling.

Maple Story have 4 years

Welcome on Maple Mesos! As you probably know, “MapleStory” is turning 4 years old this week! Well, we will also receive up to 4 pieces of cake for each successive 40 minutes of game-play, and you receive a cake as a reward for the Maple Quiz. The cakes come every year around the anniversary, and they drop maple items very rarely. But this period is great time to earn some mesos.

As part of the celebration, Nexon is planning events for its players such as: Fourth anniversary Maple weapons, item upgrades, monster transformations, in-game items, real-life prizes and the Maple Quiz.

On this occasion, Nexon is promoting its birthday is by releasing some figures that show how popular MMORPG Maple Story has become. So Maple Story has 92 mln players around the world and 6 mln of them being in North America. Of course game is free, that’s why it has so great number of players. Compared to World of Warcraft, Maple Story has 7 x time bigger player base then this popular pay-for-play MMORPG. Almost half of 92 millions are Asian players.

I’ve found also some other informations about this event.

“After four years of service in North America, MapleStory continues to evolve and surprise us all. We are very grateful to our loyal fans and this celebration is for them,” said Min Kim, Nexon America’s Vice President of Marketing. “MapleStory fans have helped create something special and we’re going to reward them with new, exciting content to enjoy throughout the summer and beyond.” – standard blah, blah, blah

Maple Story anniversary celebration will feature

Item Upgrades – Maple Hat and Maple Earrings obtained through monsters are upgradable using Maple Leaves. The earrings can be upgraded by completing special quests.

Fourth Anniversary Maple Weapons – Monsters will be dropping special anniversary weapons. Or the players can exchange previous anniversary weapons and Maple Leaves for new Fourth Anniversary Weapons, Maple Hats, Maple Shields, Maple Earrings, or Fourth Anniversary Scrolls.

Leveling Up Event – Each time players levels up, they will receive Maple Leaves. The number of Maple Leaves rewarded will vary depending on the level. Higher level players will receive more Maple Leaves.

GM Events – The GMs will run special events and summon last year’s anniversary boss, Big Puff Daddy, at random times.

4 Candle Event – Nexon is giving away around 1,200 prizes over 40 days, including in-game items, Nexon Game Cards, digital cameras, iPod Touch and a laptop computer. We must play for 40 minutes will receive a candle. Once a player has a candle, they can receive up to 4 pieces of cake for each successive 40 minutes of game play. Anyone who get all 4 pieces of the cake will have a chance to win.

Monster Transformations – We can transform into one of MapleStory monsters for a given period of time. Well I love this one.

Maple Quiz – We can take the Maple Quiz. For every question a player gets right, five Maple Leaves and a special cake will be rewarded. Like I told you before…

Anyway Maple Story is 4 years old! Let’s celebrate and farm Maple mesos! :-)

Few Tips for Fast Exp in Maple Story

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today several tips to gain fast EXP. Check them out!

1. Higher Level Monsters and EXP

Try to pick more powerful monsters as your farming target. If you need 2 hits to KO monsters, you can always try to KO monster with higher level. When it’s possible, just switch farming to this high level monster. This way you will receive more experience points. It’s simple, but sometimes players don’t noticed that. Higher level monsters – more maple mesos and EXP!

2. High Spawn Rate-Key to EXP

Well, first of all you should check out spawn rate, and secondly train on specific monster. Spawn rate means how fast the monsters appear back into the same place. The faster it appears back – the faster you can earn more EXP. My first experience with spawn rate are connected to World of Warcraft, where I had few farming spots with good experience, gold and high spawn rate – these 3 things are most important when you farm EXP + killing speed.

3. Map with Minimum Distribution

Check out where exactly you can find your farming targets (monsters). If you need to walk to much, try to look other monsters or just change. Idea is to find place where monsters are close to each other, this way you + high monster respawn rate, you will increase you EXP income :-).

4. Map with Safe Platform, while AFK

From my knowledge, many players lose EXP, by death from one reason – AFK (away from keyboard) on a platform, because they did not know a enemy could either spawn there or getting hit by monster spell attack. (range attack). That’s why, you should try finding a map that has a safe platform for you to rest when you need to AFK. Well, while playing in MMORPG, sometimes you need to answer the phone or to have “bio break”, in Maple Story when you die, you lose 10% of experience so it can be really frustrating.

5. Complete Quest for more Maple EXP.

Check as often as you can your quest log as you level up. For each level, there are many various quests with various requirements. Basically there are two types of quest, repeatable and non-repeatable, first one you can complete how many times you like, just visit NPC to take/finish it. Second one is unique, so you can only complete it once. Anyway repeatable quests are good way to earn faster some EXP, not only in Maple Story, but also in other MMORPGs such as Lord of the Rings Online or World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online etc.

6. Try out Party Quest.

There are various party quest at Victoria and Ossyria Island. One of these PQ is Kerning Party Quest, available in Kerning City, Victoria Island. Party Quest is good way to earn very fast some experience points. This way you can earn also much more maple mesos then doing training. PQ also awards players with valuable treasures along with potions or ores which you can then sell it in free market to gain additional maple mesos to payback the mesos spent on this quests. This includes Zakum PQ, Ludibrium PQ, Henesys PQ, and others.

7. 2x EXP options.

If you wish to level up faster, you can always try to play during Holiday Sessions. This way you will receive 2x EXP (double EXP) and 2x DROPS (double chance for a rare item to drop) events. Other way is to buy 2 x Exp card, for the real money, but it’s your call. I prefer to buy these improvements, but only if I’ve got more time for Mapling. So if you know, that you will play more in the future, buy one card.

See you again on Maple Mesos!

Archer

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today I would like to introduce Archer job (or path). The path of the Archer is probably one of the more difficult in MapleStory. You must be really skilled to stay alive on higher levels, because sometimes 2-3 hits and you are dead – oh yeah -10% less experience after that. Bows are faster than crossbows, but they also do less damage.

What is sooo cool in Archer?!
Flashy Skills mainly in the Ranger/Sniper stage.
Probably highest accuracy in Maple Story
Handles normal mobs pretty well
Very nice mobbing skills.
Gets soul arrow in 2nd job, allowing space saving for more pots.
Fantastic range
Well 4th job is really great
Can hit as high as warrior with double shot very early on.
Highest armor of all ranged classes.

What is really annoying…
Low health, well, sometimes 2 hits and you are killed by monster…
Very low damage
Very unstable damage until mastery in 2nd job
Confirmed as the least popular of all the classes
Elemental advantage is weird at higher levels, not much fire very weak mobs to train on

At their second job, archers have two options, Hunter or Crossbowman, and will proceed on to Ranger and Sniper respectively. The general perception of archers is somewhat biased however, so do not expect to be tops in line for a place in a training party for example. Well, I prefer Magician, as ranged class, but playing as an archer can be also very entertaining, even is hard to play.

Maple Story Basic terms

Welcome on Maple Mesos – Blog! Today I would like to add short list of basic terms, used in Maple Story.

Mapling – It’s the games way of talking about your adventuring. Mapling mean “playing in Maple Story” – you can travel, farm Maple Mesos or doing quests – it’s all Mapling ;-)

* CC – It’s short therm – Change Channel. If you ask someone to CC, don’t worry. If someone asks you to CC, they want you to change the channel you’re using so that they can continue training in peace, or for whatever reason they have in mind. Well, if someone is nice, you can CC.

* KS – Kill Stealing. It’s when someone in Maple Story of a higher level comes by where lower level characters are training and kills your opponents. It happens, so you can politely ask them to stop, or ask them to change channel, again do so politely.

* Mush – Another short term, this one is from word – Mushroom. In Maple Story, there are lots of mushroom enemies, and varieties of them. Well, if you like mushrooms, after Maple Story, you will hate them probably ;-). I wonder who is responsible for these at Nexon?! You can meet green mushroom, blue, orange, horned, yellow etc. Mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms and mushrooms + thousands of mushrooms. Whatever…

Well, I must admit Mush is shorter word then Mushroom. Ok who want to mush in Maple?

* Pots – It’s short form for potions. In Maple Story Potions are, in a sense, a life blood for your character. Like in other MMORPG, you need them to help out your character during tough fights or during normal game. Pots in Maple Story, are extremely important, because if you die – you will lose 10 % of your experience and on higher level it’s.

* NX Cash – Well in Maple Story there are mesos (normal maple money) and special NX Cash. You can use it to buy special items you can’t get otherwise. They made up this money, because you can only get them, by paying them normal cash. Yeah – dollars or pounds. Anyway you can get that way, very cool Maple items. When you don’t have Maple Mesos, you can always get some NX Cash for real money.

* NPC – It’s short term from Non-Player Character, so all the characters in the towns that just stand around or move a few feet. You need them for quests – talking to NPC at the right time is how you start quest and stuff like that. In all MMORPG NPC can give you, quests, rewards like Maple Mesos or you need to speak with them while doing business on Auction House. What else about these NPC in Maple Story…Well, they have limited action and you don’t need to talk to them, if you don’t need quest, or if you are not ready for one.

One more thing – I suggest to DO NOT BEG FOR THINGS! Some players will kill in a sec, because it’s really frustrating when someone is begging you. Remember, when you die, you are looking 10% of your experience so begging is really dangerous. Don’t beg for Maple Mesos or items, it’s really pointless…

Maple Story Tips 2

Welcome on Maple Mesos Blog. Today second part of my small guide for Maple Story. Maybe this isn’t much but always something ;-) enjoy!

You can check if you are successful in by

You should remember to control picking up an item or killing an enemy for experience points. To do that, you need to take a look at the confirmation status found at the bottom right of the screen. In that way you always take every loot.

You should take quests! It is through these quests that you can also gain experiences, equipment, items and Maple Mesos. Some of the quests are easy for beginners, while others require a significant amount of levels and playing time that come along for the task. Also I don’t know about MMORPG without quests ;-) it’s almost impossible to play in these games ignoring quests. Of course, you can ignore boring quests or these uneconomical ones, but generally QUESTS ARE IMPORTANT PART OF EVERY MMORPG, INCLUDING MAPLE STORY.

Should you feel that the place you are in is too crowded, you can always switch to a different channel and still remain in the same place.

The bowmen, magicians and thieves are capable of very long range attacks, but need to keep up all kind of stuff related to these weapons and attack type. Warriors, rely mostly on close range attacks. But since they have large HP and attacking levels, they have the capability to fight stronger monsters.

Your character speed and power are vital and significant in fighting monsters. You should evolve your character with idea, in other way, your character will be weak.

Maple Story Tips 1

Welcome friends on Maple Mesos Blog. Today I would like to add few words about tips for Maple Story.

Remember my friend, if your Hit Points (HP) are low, find a safe place where you can “rest” and restore your health. To do that, you need to be stationary. In this way, you can avoid losing 10 % of your experience points (Exp) should you “die” due to loss of HP. In Maple Story you need to be very careful, in other hand you will lose time and health ;-) (real one)

Well, to easy gain a lot of experience points at the start of Maple Island is by fighting monsters called the Shrooms and the Orange Mushrooms. If you are already on Victoria Island, the Slimes and the Stumps.

You need to improve your accuracy in hitting your enemies, you should raise your DEX if you are a warrior, bowman or a thief. You are a magician? Increase your INT and LUK. Each class has important and less important stats, try to think about that.

Pick up and store a lot of ores which you may find in the game. Ores are very expansive and rare, you need to to improve your in-game equipment.

To acquire armor and weapons, there is a requirement of every 5 levels.

After level-up, you will receive 5 Ability Points (AP). Each AP point can be used to increase all your primary stats like HP, MP, STR, DEX, INT or LUK. However, most of gamers that you use your AP only for your STR, DEX, INT or LUK since your HP and MP increases automatically when you level up your avatar.

Enemies may drop a common item like a snail shell or it may also drop a rare item like an axe. Some monsters even drop 2 different kinds of ores like mineral ore and a jewel. Stay focused and collect all kind of staff from your enemies – you want be rich or not?

Rogue

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today I would like to introduce Rogue job (or path). Well if you like thieves they are a very popular but also expensive class. Though being the most expensive, they gain the most Maple mesos just like magicians. They are fantastic at killing monsters quickly.

There are 2 types of thieves – Assassins and Bandits. Assassins are fast and deadly ranged attackers. They are great as Maple meso hunters and have high damage potential, but cost a lot more than bandits. Bandits are quick melee attackers and are very powerful among the 2nd jobs.

What is sooo cool in Rogue?!

Both bandits and assassins have fantastic skills such as Savage Blow, Haste, Triple Throw and Flash Jump
Assassins are extremely mobile and have good range
They have high avoid ability
DEXless” assassins can easily hit the highest damage of all classes between levels 20-70.
Thieves are popular choices in Party Quests
Both are good at bossing at 4th job.

What is really annoying…

Assassins are comparatively unpopular due to their stereotyped KSing.
Powerful stars and armors are MEGA EXPENSIVE!!
Low HP and MP, getting 2-hit-killed by monsters at high levels.
Claw and Dagger ATT scrolls are VERY EXPENSIVE!!

Well, playing as a thief can be entertainment, but sometimes is a difficult to handle class. Only for people who like non-stop action.

See you again on Maple Mesos

Pirate

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today I would like to introduce Pirate job (or path). The path of the Pirate will probably one of the most popular in MapleStory. Yarrr so read these stuff matey and know more about this awesome job!

What is sooo cool in Pirate?!

- Very, very, very fast attacks!
- Awesome abilities, as well as getting a mob attack during first job
- In the Brawler job, the user has physical mob attacks
- Brawler have higher HP than Bandits and higher MP than warriors
- At the beginning, pirates have great dash ability that can accelerate Pirate’s movement speed
- Gunslingers can hover in the air for a short period of time

What is really annoying…

- Gunslingers do low damage, so be prepared for that…
- Pirate little bit difficult to get used to
- The pirate equipment IS expensive, you need a lot of Maple mesos!
- Brawlers lack the mobility of Bandits, and also must be closer to attack enemies

Well at their 2nd job, Pirates have two options to evolve – Brawler or Gunslinger. Brawlers are melee, close-ranged fist fighters who deal great damage and have nice amount of HP, but they must get really close to their enemies, that’s why they are reviving a lot of damage during the combat. Gunslingers are faster and ranged attackers, but their shots tend to be weak due to the lack of criticals that an Archer or Assassin has. Well, you can’t pick 3rd job, its forced depending on what has been already chosen, Outlaw from Gunslinger and Marauder from Brawler. For the 4th job, Pirates have the choice – Corsair or a Buccaneer. Personally I like very much Pirate job, it’s my kinda a class. Fast, aggressive and created for attack! Oh yeah, there is nothing better then being a pirate ARR!!

See you again on Maple Mesos

Magician

Welcome on Maple Mesos. Today I would like to introduce Magicians job (or path). Magicians are ranged characters that eventually become imbued with a specific element, dealing 150% damage to monsters weak to that element. Each of the 3 specialized Magician path can get summons at the fourth job and use Area of Effect attacks.

What is sooo cool in Magician?!
- Can use element based attacks early
- Magicians can still use their ranged attack even when monsters are close
- Cleric, one of the second job advancement, is the least costly
- Later on with mastered MP eater, they need very few MP potions
- Mana Point level and regeneration
- Powerful Area Of Effect skills

(Maple Story Mage in Action)

What is really annoying…
- Very low health and can die easily against most monsters without magic guard
- Slow to level from 1 to 8
- Magician armors in the beginning give very low defense
- High Mp consumption for 4th job Area-of-Effect skills
- Uses a lot of pots especially Mp Pots.

Maple Halloween special

Welcome on Maple Mesos – Blog. According to very popular website, gamershell.com, all MS players will be able to play in the Halloween themed section of the Nexon Cash Shop. Nexon also informed that in celebration of the Halloween holiday they will add very large new continent of Masteria with the terrible Phantom Forest and a haunted house filled with ghosts and wraiths.
